For the uninitiated, the Cadillac Converj is the 2 door luxury version of the Chevy Volt extended-range electric vehicle. There was no indication if the Voltec propulsion system would be upgraded for higher performance, which would involve higher power electronics and a larger internal combustion engine for the generator. Interestingly, Bob Lutz has admitted what Tesla Motors and Fisker Automotive already know - that hybrid EV and EV propulsion systems are expensive - specifically, the batteries...

BMW ActiveHybrid X6 ReviewBMW's ActiveHybrid X6 is one of the most powerful hybrid vehicles ever produced. Outputting a combined 480 hp and 575 lb-ft of torque, this a hybrid to be reckoned with. Its 0-60 mph time of 5.2 seconds from a vehicle weighing in at 5,700 lb is definitely astonishing, but does this vehicle live...

In another sign that Toyota hit a home run with the third-generation Prius hybrid hatchback, the 2010 Toyota Prius was the best-selling car in Japan during 2009. It beat out the Honda Fit, followed by the Toyota Yaris (known in Japan as the Vitz), as well as its closest hybrid competitor, the new 2010 Honda Insight. Approximately 10 percent of Japanese new-car sales are now hybrid-electric vehicles. Toyota sold 208,876 Prius models in Japan, more than the 139,682 it sold in the U.S. last year. The current 2010 Chevrolet Aveo sedan and hatchback, the Korean-built subcompacts that are GM's contenders in that growing segment, are no longer competitive against upcoming entries like the 2011 Ford Fiesta, rated at 30 mpg city, 40 mpg highway. But that will change when a brand-new and entirely redesigned 2011 Chevrolet Aveo hits dealerships. It's previewed at this year's Detroit Auto Show by the Chevrolet Aveo RS concept car. The Aveo RS concept is mostly a styling exercise; Chevrolet released relatively little information on the car's performance or fuel efficiency. But the 2011 Fiesta's...

The Lexus HS250h is essentially an upscale Prius. It carries numerous components that are similar to those found in the Prius, but it does carry one additional detail not found on the Prius, the Lexus name.
