The best back-to-school cars, now that is a tall order and one that can change people’s lives. I mean, could you stand to find out you are driving the uncool car this year when you head back to school? Well, before you get tarred and feathered with that unappealing proposition, we have the annual list of best back-to-school cars from Kelly Blue Book. Generally, all the cars on the top ten and even the top five are small, economical and something you actually want to be seen in.

The best back-to-school car according to KBB is the 2006 Honda Civic. Honda’s have always been known to be reliable and except for the entry price, economical. We also know that the Si version of the Civic is a fun, fast and cool car—so if you are trying to convince your parents to help you get a Civic you should start working on you story about what Si means and why it is the best choice. The rest of the top five was rounded out by the 2011 Ford Fiesta, 2010 Mazda3, 2008 Pontiac Vibe and 2010 Honda Fit. Again no surprises there, except maybe the Pontiac Vibe over the Toyota Matrix…at least we know you should get a good deal on the discontinued Pontiac.

Still didn’t see your car on the list? Have no fear, the cars from number six to ten were as follows: Saab 9-2X, 2010 Kia Soul, 2006 Ford Crown Vic, 2008 Suzuki SX4 hatchback and 2011 Chevrolet Cruze. All in all, we are impressed to see 9 out of the 10 cars to be small and to see four be 2010 or newer models. How is that for some back-to-school hipness?
