One of the most coveted awards given to environmentally friendly vehicles will be handed out this April at the New York Auto Show.  The award is highly sought after and caps off the 2010 round of recognition for great achievements by automakers.  The award referenced is the World Green Car, part of the World Car of the Year awards.

13 vehicles were on the list as eligible for the World Green Car award and now the list has been narrowed down to just five remaining vehicles.  The vehicles remaining will be on a ballot distributed to an international group of automotive journalists for final selection.

Of the 5 vehicles still remaining, hybrids are the dominant force.  The list of 5 will be narrowed down even more at the Geneva Auto Show where ballots are counted and the top three finalists will be announced.

So here are the five finalists for the World Green Car.  The  Toyota Prius, the Honda Insight, the Ford Fusion hybrid, the Mercedes-Benz S400 hybrid, and the Volkswagen Bluemotion lineup.

Which one will win?  You'll have to wait until April to find out, but we'd like to hear what you think.  Leave a comment below and tell us which vehicle you would pick as the World Green Car and why you selected that vehicle as the winner.
