Well, OK, perhaps the 2014 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel doesn't have an engine actually designed by Maserati. But, hey, what other pickup truck can claim to use even the same engine as sexy, sinuous, six-figure Italian luxury sport sedans? As cleverly pointed out by Ward's Auto, the new diesel Ram 1500...

The New York Auto Show, now open to the public, occupies two floors of the Javits Convention Center, and organizers this year were strict about relegating trucks to the basement. Chrysler was allowed only a single truck or crossover in its entire main-floor display. So it chose the 2013 Ram 1500...

We missed it last week while we were covering all the new cars at the Geneva Motor Show, but Chrysler has officially stepped forward into the world of natural-gas vehicles. Its Ram truck brand announced that it would offer a bi-fuel version of its 2500 Heavy Duty pickup, to be known as the Ram 2500 HD CNG (for compressed natural gas). The news followed--by one day--a very similar announcement from GM, which said it would sell bi-fuel versions of its 2013 Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra pickup trucks. Chrysler's differs, however, in that the CNG Ram will be built right in the company's pickup...

Chrysler To Join Honda In Selling Natural-Gas Cars...In 2017

The Two-Mode Hybrid system for large sport utilities and trucks hasn't exactly set the world on fire. In 2006, General Motors, Daimler and Chrysler (then a single company) announced a partnership, soon joined by BMW, to develop the Two-Mode Hybrid system for large rear-wheel drive vehicles. But Daimler and Chrysler split, two of the partners declared bankruptcy and were reconstituted with U.S. government funds, and the once-promising four-way partnership has been dissolved. GM goes solo Now GM is the sole proprietor (and largest user) of the Two-Mode system. Yet last year, GM sold just 8,820...
