The Korean car company expects to meet the 2020 Corporate Average Fuel Economy standards in 2015. The Sonata hybrid won't be like other hybrids though. Tesla CEO, Elon Musk, has confirmed the rumors that have been lighting up the blogosphere for months. The start-up electric car company will supply its lithium ion battery packs and charging systems to the Daimler Group for use in the upcoming Smart ED. The agreement was announced at the Society of Automotive Analysts outlook conference today. On Friday it got its name. On Saturday it got its face. The tireless auto fanatics at Jalopnik have pics of the Dodge Circuit EV. As expected, the prominent company trademark cross-hair grill is in place. No word on when or whether this car ever sees the light of a showroom floor. If Dodge is using Tesla logic, the Circuit could be the iconic super car that puts the brand back on the map. It could also be permanent vaporware. Thanks to a careful search of trademarks, the automotive blog site Jalopnik was able to determine the official name for Dodge's forthcoming EV, the Dodge Circuit. Indeed a domain name search confirms DodgeCircuit.com has been taken. Chrysler previously showed the electric car concept EV in a Lotus shell. It has not been said whether the vehicle would make it to production, as it was up against an E-REV Jeep and E-REV minivan. Whether having a name makes it more likely to be produced remains to be seen, and whether the car will appear differently we will also have to wait to find out. Source...
