In Colorado, April can only mean one thing; the 2010 Denver Auto Show is right around the corner. This year the 2010 Denver Auto Show is even getting some manufacturers we didn’t see last years, so we should have a wide selection from Ford and Chevrolet to Lamborghini and Infinity. There is also going to be DeLoreans on display from the Rocky Mountain DeLorean club. However, the real story today is the Green Car Convoy that has been making its way around Colorado due to the efforts of The Colorado Automobile Dealers Association (CADA) and local manufacturer dealerships.

You might remember our report “on the trail” with the Green Car Convoy last year. This year continues the tradition by getting vehicles, especially environmentally friendly ones out in the public eye where they can ask questions about them, touch and feel them and maybe even find something to replace their current less efficient vehicle.

Colorado Green Car Convoy Checking Out MINI Clubman

This year there were three cars that made every stop along the three-day convoy that reached from Denver to Grand Junction and Fort Collins to Colorado Springs. Those three cars were the 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid, 2009 VW Touareg TDI Clean Diesel, and 2009 VW Jetta TDI Clean Diesel. Of course, three cars does not a convoy make, so local dealerships in participation with the CADA sent cars from each area of the convoy with up 12 additional cars joining at each stop.

Some of the other vehicles included a MINI Clubman (Up to 37 mpg hwy), Toyota Prius and Subaru Forester. The thing I like about this event is it really brings the cars to the people, especially in areas where people might not get up to the 2010 Denver Auto Show. It also increase the relationships dealers are able to have with the local consumer by giving them a no pressure environment to check out new and innovative cars.

Be sure to stay tuned for more events coming to you straight from the floor of the 2010 Denver Auto Show. If you are local to Denver, Colorado, then check out the Green Car Parade happening Sunday, April 4th at the Denver Capital Building from 2-3:30pm.
