  • 2012 Fiat 500

The Fiat 500 is so close that consumers can taste it. However, if you want to testdrive one before you drive it and you live in a five state region of the Denver Metro area, the chances are you haven’t been able to get near one of the handful of cars they have here on this side of the pond. For 2011 Denver Auto Show attendees that changes starting this Friday through Sunday at the Manufacturer Ride and Drive sign up booths on the street level of the Colorado Convention Center. The Fiat 500 has captured Europe with its throwback design and modern amenities. In the U.S., we expect to see...

Earlier this week we checked out the 2012 Fiat 500 and the first drive report. What we found out was that the Fiat will be a fun, but not particularly performance oriented mini car—at least until the Abarth edition makes it to the U.S. sometime in the future. However, those on the west coast...

  • 2012 Fiat 500

With the first few Fiat 500 minicars now landing in Chrysler dealerships this month and next, the small car's fuel efficiency is clearly one of the main questions buyers will ask about. Now the EPA has released its final ratings for the car, though they're not yet on its FuelEconomy.org website. The agency says the 2012 Fiat 500 gets 30 mpg city, 38 mpg highway when it's fitted with the five-speed manual gearbox. That's a combined rating of 33 mpg. For the optional automatic, the ratings come in at 27 mpg city, 34 mpg highway, for a combined 30-mpg overall number. Those are respectable...

To achieve ambitious 2016 Federal fuel-economy goals, carmakers are working hard to make their engines smaller and more efficient. That's not news. • U.S.-spec 2011 Fiat 500 Sport

It has been a little while since we have checked in on Fiat and Chrysler—specifically about the coming of the Fiat brand to American showrooms. Even more specifically, we are foaming at the mouth for the Fiat 500 to come to American shores and the Fiat 500C would be an even bigger hit for the warm climates of Miami, Santa Monica and Arizona (in the winter time). However, there is still wide spread skepticism around the idea that the Fiat brand might actually make it across the pond. Why? Well, some of it, as pointed out by Car and Driver, is because we have heard of the return of Alfa...

It hasn't been easy being a Fiat fan in the U.S. these last, oh, 20 or 30 years. • 2012 Fiat 500 Electric/Elettra

The great thing about having your company headquartered in Palo Alto, California, is that you never quite know what you'll see on the street. There are lots of expensive cars like BMWs and Bentleys floating around. There are also a disproportionate number of Tesla Roadsters, since the company is based in Silicon Valley. But sometimes you get something even more unexpected. We received this photo of an electric Fiat 500 that was snapped while it was driving around downtown Palo Alto. It parked in front of our local Starbucks, with two men inside and a Michigan manufacturer plate on the rear...
