Californians can rejoice as they are now able to get up to $5,000 off of their electric car purchase.

Starting earlier this month, the states Clean Vehicle Rebate Project (CVRP) went into effect which will allow buyers in the state of California the opportunity to purchase certain zero emission vehicles with rebates of up to $5,000.  The CVRP program is funded by the state.

Here's a breakdown of some of the rebates.  Passenger vehicles will receive rebates up to $5,000.  Cars, trucks, commercial vehicles, motorcycles and many other types of vehicles will qualify for rebates.  Certain commercial use, zero emission vehicles, will qualify for up to $20,000 in rebates.  The rebates are available to those who both buy and/or lease their zero emissions vehicle.

The CVRP program will not last forever.  Funds are limited and will run out if people take advantage of the rebate offerings.  If you live in California and are interested in a zero emission vehicle, now is the time to buy.  Your choices are certainly limited, but the rebates are enticing.
