Quantum Fuel Systems Technologies Worldwide, Inc., (Nasdaq: QTWW) today announced that its Clandestine Electric Reconnaissance Vehicle (CERV) all-wheel-drive diesel hybrid electric vehicle is proudly displayed by the U.S. Army Tank Automotive Research, Development and Engineering Center (TARDEC) at the 2010 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit.

Quantum Technologies, a fully integrated alternative energy company, is a leader in the development and production of advanced propulsion systems, energy storage technologies, and alternative fuel vehicles.  They are also a full partner of, and propulsion technology provider to Fisker Automotive, who will begin production of the Fisker Karma this year.

The auto industry is a strategic asset of the defense industry, providing both cutting edge technologies for advanced vehicle systems, and effectively cost reducing standard technologies for the most cost effective solutions to the military's daily needs.  The development of this hybrid system, and the potential for the use of this system in commercial applications is a win-win for both the auto and defense industries, as both markets are well served.

An all-wheel-drive diesel hybrid is quickly becoming the eventual / optimal platform pursued by automakers, as the diesel's efficiency coupled with electric all-wheel-drive performance and handling are the best of both worlds.
