Rumors are swirling that Volkswagen will unveil a new pure electric concpet vehicle at this year's Frankfurt Motor Show in spite of the slack economy. Volkswagen media people are mum, but speculation persists that they've been silently working on an EV that will compete with the Chevrolet-based Opel Ampera. Naturally, details are sketchy, but most pundits agree that this vehicle will be purely electric, not a hybrid, and may be similar in size and may borrow bits of technology from the Golf Twin Drive diesel hybrid.
