Tesla Motors said today it would cut the third-quarter production target for its 2012 Model S all-electric sport sedan, according to a stock analyst who follows the company. A report by Wunderlich Securities analyst Theodore O'Neill notes that Tesla is now saying it would probably only deliver 500 cars through the end of September, down from a previous target of 1,000. It still expects to deliver about 5,000 cars by the end of 2012, meaning an average of 1,500 cars a month from October through December. The delays were attributed to unspecified production execution issues. Green Car Reports...

How Much Space IS There Inside A 2012 Tesla Model S Anyway? It can be hard to work out which cars the 2012 Tesla Model S electric sport sedan competes with. It may be that no one has been happier to lose a bet and write a check for $1,000 than Wall Street Journal auto writer Dan Neil. The bet he always said he wanted to lose was over the date Tesla Motors would deliver its first production 2012 Model S electric cars to paying customers--which it did at the end of last month, right on time--and that car's specifications. Neil made the wager with Tesla CEO Elon Musk back in 2009, based on his skepticism about Musk's public promises about what Tesla would do. Last Friday, Neil paid off: He wrote a check for $1,000 to Médecins Sans...
