Aston Martin Goes Green With Zebra-Skin Baby Swan From ToyotaLast summer, lots of people thought it was a joke when famed British sports car maker Aston Martin said it would offer coachbuilt versions of Toyota's tiny iQ minicar, in the guise of the greenest Aston ever, the Cygnet. (A cygnet is a baby swan, by the way.) Well, it wasn't a joke. And now Aston...

At December's Los Angeles Auto Show, Hyundai made a big splash by saying it would no longer offer V-6 engines in its Sonata midsize car or its Tucson compact crossover. Instead, it replaced them with higher-performance, more fuel-efficient four-cylinder motors. But Hyundai's just one of many makers boosting the four-cylinder into prominence. Data from a survey of 2009 sales shows that four-cylinder models rose from 52 to 62 percent of car sales, and were even fitted to a record 15 percent of light trucks sold. The percentages of share are important because overall sales plummeted more than 20...

GM Planning Engineless All-Electric Cars To Follow the VoltBob Lutz, the retiring eminence grise of General Motors, is known for pithiness and plain speaking. We're eagerly waiting to get our hands on a 2011 Honda CR-Z for a test drive. The two-seat coupe, Honda's latest dedicated hybrid, is the spiritual successor to the 1983-1991 Honda Civic CRX, and we're devoutly hoping it's as fun to drive as its predecessor. The performance numbers aren't particularly stellar, with acceleration from 0 to 60 mph quoted at 9.7 seconds, and projected fuel economy ratings of 36 mpg city, 38 mpg highway when fitted with a continuously variable transmission (CVT). But small cars that aren't very fast can still be major fun to drive. If Honda can duplicate the CRX's...

Volkswagen Will Dominate the World of Electric Cars. Got That?Maybe it's just the translation.
