It is no secret the Ford sponsors the hit television competition American Idol, however, this past week Ford upped the anti to get their already popular 2011 Ford Fiesta more of the primetime spotlight. Wednesday night’s episode aired a spot that showed the Top 12 American Idols customizing Fiesta 5-doors by adding customized graphics to the exterior. The combination gets not only the contestants, but the consumer closer to the design process within Ford.

“Ford has been a sponsor of ‘American Idol’ since the show premiered in 2002, and each season we try to take our relationship with the show to the next level in a fun and meaningful way,” said Connie Fontaine, manager, Ford Brand Content and Alliances. “This year, the Idols will get a closer experience with our vehicles as they interact with our designers and customize a Fiesta design that reflects their own personality.”

Where does the process start? At the beginning with 9 choices of vibrant colors from the Fiesta line-up including the already popular Lime Squeeze and Bright Magenta. This wasn’t just a pick an chose exercise though, each contestant was given a personality survey so the designs could help them make their Fiesta designs more personal.

The results are the images you see here. This is just a random selection and you can see the full line of American Idol “personalized” 2011 Ford Fiestas over at the American Idol website from March 17 to May 21, 2010.
