Italdesign Fastest Hybrid Concept

Italdesign Fastest Hybrid Concept

More details have emerged about Italdesign's latest hybrid supercar concept expected to be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March. The numbers are staggering. Italdesign claims that the car will tear through 0 to 62 mph in under four seconds and achieve a top speed of 186 miles per hour. That's stupid fast.

The latest concept only emits 0.18 pounds of CO2 per mile and gets about 124 miles per gallon. (This information could come in handy as you're zipping by your turtleneck wearing, Prius driving neighbors. Their car spews double the amount of CO2 and doesn't come close in the fuel economy department.)

How is it all possible? Simple. This supercar is on a super diet.  A carbon fiber chassis and a body made of aluminum and carbon keep the weight low. While it hasn't been confirmed, we expect that the concept will employ a hybrid system from Toyota similar to the one in the Quaranta concept shown last year.

God bless the Italians.
