On August 1st in Japan Nissan unveiled its all new global production pure electric car to the world. The car known as the Nissan LEAF is slated for launch in late 2010 in Japan, the United States, and Europe. The LEAF will use Nissan's proprietary 24 kwh laminate lithium ion battery pack and an 80 kw electric motor. It will have at top speed of 90 MPH and a driving range of more than 100 miles.
