There's more to making a car green than just the car itself. Ideally, the whole process of making the car should be as environmentally-friendly as possible too. Ford is doing just that, having cut global carbon dioxide emissions at its plants by over a third since 2000. CO2 emissions have dropped by 37 percent per vehicle between 2000 and 2012, and overall the drop is even greater. Total CO2 emissions have fallen by 4.65 million metric tons, or 47 percent lower than 2000's figures. Last year, we reported on a scheme aimed at helping Colorado car owners get their dirtiest vehicles off the road. The Clear the Air Foundation and ReForest Colorado aimed to plant a tree for every polluting old vehicle donated--cleaning up the air in more ways than one. The scheme is now doing rather well, Wards Auto reports. Clear the Air Foundation, started by the Colorado Automobile Dealers Association, has removed 645 of the highest-emitting vehicles from the road. The vast majority of these were trade-ins at Colorado's new-car dealers--neatly incentivizing the scheme for customers, who...

What's your first resource for electric-car information? We're hoping you answer Green Car Reports (of course!), but in reality there are quite a few by now. Today, the conservation group Sierra Club has launched its own Electric Vehicle Guide--and one of its key features is the ability to learn about state and local incentives by entering your ZIP code. While other groups, including Plug-In America, offer listings and maps of specific incentives in various locations, the Sierra Club's electric-car guide provides a neat ability to sort results by where you live. It sorts the available plug-in...

The concept, reported by Aviation Week, is so simple you wonder how it's taken this long to appear. Existing aircraft taxi to and from the runway using power from their engines, but EGTS uses electric motors mounted in the main landing gear to cover those duties instead.
