Toyota has announced they'll be leasing the third-generation Prius plug-in hybrid by the end of THIS year, months ahead of schedule. There will be 500 of them scattered across the globe, with 150 of them coming here to the U.S. All of them will be leased for market research and engineering analysis. Because these represent the first-gen lithium-ion battery hybrid, Toyota will undoubtedly be monitoring them very closely for battery performance and durability.
