Tesla Roadster NYC
I had the chance to take a Tesla Roadster in and around Manhattan for the day. The car is a remarkable phenomenon. Fast as imaginable yet runs on pure electricity. Built by Silicon Valley start-up Tesla Motors, there have only been 200 models delivered since the first one shipped in 2008, and with about 1000 more on backorder.
Though small in numbers, $109,000, and possessing a complex lithium-ion battery pack, the car symbolizes the fact that electric cars can be successfully made and incredibly fun. Indeed this car and company can be credited with jumpstarting the entire wave of electric car development essentially all of the major automakes are now undertaking.
