Today on Green Car Reports, we've got more live photo galleries of the latest hybrid and electric car at the 2013 Frankfurt Auto Show. We've also got news from startups Elio Motors and VPG, plus a rather unusual MINI variant. All this and more on Green Car Reports.

From Frankfurt, we've got live photos of the 2015 Mercedes-Benz S500 Plug-In Hybrid, a more fuel-efficient version of Mercedes' flagship sedan.

Moving down in price a bit, we have the Volkswagen e-Golf, an electric version of VW's worldwide bestseller.

Volkswagen actually had two electric cars on its Frankfurt stand. The second, the e-Up, is based on the European-market Up city car, and will not be sold in the United States.

Speaking of small cars, MINI made a splash--literally--in New York Harbor. An aquatic MINI Boatman was captured when it docked next to the World Financial Center by some unorthodox "spy shots."

Elio Motors won't get to buy the ex-GM plant in Caddo Parish, Louisiana, although it will be able to build cars there.

Finally, AM General takes control of VPG, the defunct maker of the MV-1 natural-gas powered handicapped accessible van.
