Hydro-Quebec, the leading electricity provider of the Canadian Province, signed on to field test a Ford Escape plug-in hybrid.

Ford's program provides several different companies with a PHEV Escape for a three year test program.  The goal of the program is to provide real world feedback to Ford and allow utilities to gather information pertaining to the electrical grid that supports the vehicle.

Hydro-Quebec is an excellent choice for green vehicles as they believe in producing green electricity.  98% of the power that they generate comes from renewable resources including the majority from hydro-electric dams.

The company will receive one of the 21 PHEV Escapes.  The vehicle is powered by a lithium-ion battery pack made by Johnson Controls-Saft that provides a 30 mile electric range on a full charge.

Hydro-Quebec is the first and only Canadian utility company selected to take part in the program which includes 9 utility companies in North America.
