Last summer at the Detroit Grand Prix, organizers announced a hybrid race program that would soon be under way.  The hybrid Grand Prix vehicles were set to premier at the Petit Le Mans last October.  The date came and went without a hybrid vehicle shown.

Now, close to a year later, Corsa Motorsports is set to premier its new hybrid LMP1 race car officially called the Ginetta-Zytek 09HS LMP1.  The vehicle will make its premier at the Utah ALMS race this upcoming weekend at the Miller Motorsports Park with the event running from May 15th through May 17th.

The LMP1 passed final testing in England last week where it displayed its ability to go an entire lap on electric power alone.

The vehicle features a 4.5 liter V8 engine with an output of 625hp paired with an electric motor and lithium ion battery pack.  The hybrid power train is designed by Zytek and the battery system by Continental.
