This is the face of the Lexus LF-Ch hybrid concept and it will probably come in colors other than baby poop metallic. This premium compact designed to compete with the Audi A3 and BMW 1-Series will have its public debut at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show. The concept is a dramatic departure from any current Lexus model, although the hood lines bear some resemblance to the IS. If the new vehicle hits the streets, it will face some speedy and fuel efficient competition. The aforementioned Audi achieves a combined 25 mpg rating with a 2.0 liter turbocharged "Fuel Stratified Injection" power...

Lexus Goes Hybrid-Only...in Britain
Well, here's a surprise. It's no news that Lexus has found it slow going breaking into the luxury market in Europe, which is dominated by Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Jaguar. By contrast, Lexus has become the highest-selling US luxury brand since its 1989 launch, largely on the strength of its midsize...

Orders for Lexus HS 250h 20 Times Higher Than Toyota Expected
Perhaps it's the gas mileage rating of 35 mpg city, 34 mpg highway. Perhaps it's the tax breaks offered in Japan for hybrid vehicles, or perhaps it's because it's Lexus' only dedicated hybrid model, but whatever the cause is, Lexus surely isn't complaining that pre-orders for the Lexus HS 250h...

Lexus HS 250h Ride & Drive, Day 3: Road Trip
In a word: comfortable. That is the best one-word summary of our long road trip in the Lexus HS 250h. Two words? VERY comfortable. Our road trip was from metro Detroit to Cedar Point, a round trip of about 250 miles, mostly on the freeway using cruise control. Our average miles per gallon was 37.6...

Today I took the Lexus HS 250h running errands with my five-year-old, Sophie. Bank, grocery store, dry cleaners, that sort of thing. At the end of the day, I'm still impressed, and so is Sophie (she loved that she could connect her iPod to the sound system). The HS 250h was so quiet while idling in line for the drive-up teller at the bank that I wanted to restart it... did it stall? No, it's just... quiet. The "READY" light on the instrument panel really is necessary after all. I got an average of 32.4 MPG today, strictly city driving, lots of stop and go. My only complaint? The trunk is...

Lexus HS 250h Ride & Drive, Day 1: First Impression
It’s ten o’clock on Saturday night and I have the windows down, the moon roof open, and “Time to Pretend” by MGMT buzzing in my ears. I feel giddy, invincible, like the road was made for me and I’m the only one on it. Headlights appear in my rear-view mirror and I glance down at the...

2010 Lexus HS250h Pricing Starts at Exactly $35,000
The 2010 Lexus HS250h is an interesting beast. We've covered it quite a lot because, among other interesting traits, it pioneers a new market segment: the dedicated luxury hybrid sedan. We did an initial Drive Report and then, more recently, a full review, and now Lexus has completed the last piece...

2010 Lexus HS250h Pricing Slots Neatly Above 2010 Toyota Prius
From our first Drive Report to our recent full review, we've covered the 2010 Lexus HS250h quite a lot here at AllAboutPrius.com. Now the other shoe has dropped: Lexus has released the pricing. And, surprise, surprise, the 2010 HS250h slots very neatly just above the highest-spec model of the 2010...

Lexus Announces Pricing for 2010 HS 250h Hybrid Starting at $34,200
The world's first dedicated hybrid only luxury vehicle will hit the market next year. The 2010 Lexus HS 250h utilizes a hybrid powertrain with similarities to the Prius, but wraps it into the fancy interior and exterior of a luxury vehicle and charges a significant premium for the luxurious...

Toyota Takes 1,500 Pre-orders For Lexus HS Hybrid In Japan
The people of Japan love their hybrids and the Lexus HS 250h is no exception. The Nikkei reports that Toyota has already taken 1,500 pre-orders in Japan for its upcoming luxury hybrid. This exceeds the automaker's expectations three times over. Not to be outdone, the overwhelmingly popular third...

As we've said before, we cover the 2010 Lexus HS250h hybrid sedan more than any other car on this site--except, of course, the new 2010 Toyota Prius. We've now put up our review of the Lexus HS over on GreenCarReports.com, but we wanted to bring together for our AllAboutPrius.com users everything we've written on High Gear Media about the new dedicated hybrid from Toyota's luxury brand. Here's the full list, with the most recent articles first: Review: 2010 Lexus HS250h (GreenCarReports.com - July 6, 2009) Hybrid of Another Caliber: 2010 Lexus HS250 (AllSmallCars.com - July 6, 2009) Drive...

Review: 2010 Lexus HS250h
When we first drove the 2010 Lexus HS250h, we were puzzled by it. Neither fish nor fowl, it seemed an uneasy marriage of Lexus lines and luxury with a Toyota Prius-like dedicated hybrid shape and powertrain. We've just spent a four-day weekend with a glossy black 2010 HS250h, the Premium model with...

Toyota To Produce Up To 30,000 Plug-In Hybrids In 2012
The Nikkei Business Daily has reported that Toyota plans to produce between 20,000 and 30,000 plug-in hybrids in 2012. The Japanese automaker has already committed to leasing 500 plug-ins for government and corporate use by the end of this year. The plan is hardly a surprise. While traditional...

First Drive Impressions: 2010 Lexus HS250h
We've devoted more space on AllAboutPrius.com to the 2010 Lexus HS250h hybrid than to most other cars. That's because it can be considered a half-brother to the 2010 Toyota Prius: A fancier, pricier, more powerful sedan sibling to the practical, plain-Jane Prius. Lexus still hasn't released pricing...

Drive Report: 2010 Lexus HS250h
Setting aside our questions about whether the 2010 Lexus HS250h can create a new "luxury hybrid" niche, we spent much of Wednesday driving two of them through the rolling suburban hills of Westchester County, New York. Overall, we think the HS is a bit of a puzzlement, neither fish nor fowl. We're...

2010 Lexus HS250h: Right For Our Times Or Not?
We've just returned from driving the 2010 Lexus HS250h through the manicured suburbs of New York's Westchester County. We'll post our full impressions tomorrow, following up the first drive of the Lexus HS by our colleague Bengt Halvorson. But at the end of the day, we're left just slightly...

Sometimes all we can say is that it's a privilege to write for AllAboutPrius.com. It's just never, ever dull around here. Today, for your delight, we bring you the world's highest-mileage hearse, which also happens to have the lowest carbon footprint of any casket-transport device short of the standard six or eight pallbearers. Our Japanese is essentially non-existent, but we've gleaned a few facts about this custom offering from Lequios, built in Okinawa using a standard third-generation Toyota Prius hybrid as its donor vehicle. It's aimed at funeral directors who want to appeal to...

2010 Lexus HS250h Goal: One-Seventh The Sales of 2010 Toyota Prius
Now that the 2010 Toyota Prius is available at most Toyota dealers, at least for test drives, we're waiting for its half-brother--the 2010 Lexus HS250h--to appear at Lexus stores around Labor Day. We've wondered for awhile what kind of sales Lexus expected, and now Automotive News reports that the...

Lexus Drops Expected Sales Volume of Lexus HS 250h to 25,000 Units a Year
According to Lexus, they will cut their initial sales target for the upcoming Lexus HS 250h hybrid by 5,000 units to account for a continuing downturn in the car market. Lexus set initial sales target at 30,000 units for the upcoming hybrid, but has now decided to cut their sale target to only...

2010 Lexus HS250h Pricing: Is It Really An Upscale Alternative To The Prius?
As the Prius's fancy big brother and perhaps the first entry-level luxury hybrid, pricing of the 2010 Lexus HS250h will position it in the market

Driving the 2010 Lexus HS250h--The Fancier Sibling of the 2010 Toyota Prius
It's fancier, heavier, quicker, and a bit less fuel-efficient, but the 2010 Lexus HS250h shares a lot under the skin with the 2010 Toyota Prius

First Drive: 2010 Lexus HS250h
The first dedicated hybrid from Lexus is a very different mix of mileage and luxury than the Prius it's related to. And, boy, is it heavy.
