Ready to challenge Infiniti's Emerg-E and the Acura NSX, Lexus is set to unveil a new hybrid coupe concept at the upcoming 2012 Australian International Motor Show.

The car has been confirmed by Lexus chief executive Tony Cramb, and promises to be "an absolutely stunning vehicle... one of the drawcards of the show".

Details are a little thin on the ground at the moment and only a small teaser image has been revealed, hinting at a dramatic design to match the sharply-styled rear light.

What we do know is that the hybrid coupe will feature all-wheel drive, just like its Acura NSX rival. It will also develop around 500 horsepower.

Lexus says the concept will "highlight Lexus' design and engineering expertise--marrying design with function to deliver a glimpse into the future of supercars."

The concept will take pride of place on the Lexus stand, surrounded by other examples of Lexus' hybrid vehicle range.

The 2012 Australian International Motor Show is held this year in Sydney, and will run from 19-28 October.
