Ford and Toyota have both been in the news a lot as of late due to the recall situation that Toyota is facing. Recently, we reported on Ford’s move to capitalize on Toyota’s situation by offering incentives. The news today comes from a consumer poll conducted by and the results may surprise you.

Our partners over at reported this morning that the 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid has been put at the top of a consumer poll conducted by in December of last year. This is certainly another win for Ford and from their perspective the timing probably couldn’t have been better. It also seems to highlight the gravity of the situation Toyota is facing especially given the reports that the recalls numbers have inflated to include 7.5 million vehicles.

In the survey, the 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid garnered 26 percent of the votes for top hybrid. Now don’t get us wrong, the Toyota Prius isn’t out of the game, it pulled in 23 percent of the votes, and so it is still very popular. However, the point here is that being number one doesn’t always mean the best quality or best customer service. In the last year we have seen both car companies that have held the number one position falter.

Bottom line—Ford should be proud of turning their business around and continue to learn from the mistakes they have made in the past and the mistakes of other top rated companies. If you haven’t checked out a Ford lately, it might be worth another look.
