If you had to guess which manufacturer was putting components of their electric powertrain into creating a hybrid-powered motor-home, chances are, you wouldn’t say Shelby SuperCars. But in an agreement formalized July 24th between SSC and Jones & Son Chassis, that’s exactly what they plan to do.

SSC will provide their All Electric Scalable Powertrain (AESP) to power a motor-home with a range of 500 miles (150 on battery power, then another 350 miles in “hybrid” mode).  While in hybrid mode, an electric generator will charge the battery pack, and, while parked overnight, the pack can be recharged with the standard camp-ground 50amp/220 volt electrical service.

Pretty cool, but completely unexpected, since the last we heard from SSC was last summer’s somewhat boastful announcement that they were producing what they called the “World’s Fastest Electric Car,” the Ultimate Aero EV.
