I know motorcycles are not cars; therefore they don't fit the name of this website.  But often times, technology is borrowed or shared amongst vehicles.  And the Zero S electric motorcycle packs a lot of technology into a small package.

The Zero S runs on electric power only and has a range of 60 miles per charge.  It can reach 60 mph in only 5 seconds.

Interestingly, the Zero S weighs about 75 pounds less than a similar gasoline powered counterpart and provides better acceleration numbers.  This contradicts what we expect in hybrid cars and even electric versions.  Typically, a hybrid car weighs significantly more than its gasoline counterparts due to the weight of the battery system.

Packaging of the battery system in a tight space and reduced weight could be aspects of the Zero S that carmakers focus on when producing electric cars in the coming years.  They could draw upon the Zero S for cues in developing a powerful electric system that does not detract from the driving experience in any way.

The Zero S sells for about $10,000, several thousand more than its gasoline competitors.  Perhaps this drawback will be hard to negate.
