News Advisory from the Colorado Auto Dealers Association (CADA):

Many car dealers will stop accepting deals by close of business Saturday, and some others no later than noon on Monday

Tim Jackson, president of the Colorado Automobile Dealers Association (CADA) said, “Colorado consumers need to know that many new car dealers will stop accepting Cash for Clunker deals by close of business this Saturday (August 22), or no later than noon on Monday (August 24) to avoid risks of not meeting submission times in full.”

The final deadline for submitting paperwork is 8 p.m., Monday, Eastern Time.  But, states in the West will need to submit earlier in order to meet the demand and to ensure that applications have been approved.

Jackson also said consumers should note that some dealers have already stopped participating in the program, so consumers should check with dealers first to ensure they are still participating.

To qualify, consumers need up-to-date insurance for the car, and title to the car being traded in.  Vehicles must be purchased in person.  Credits of up to $3,500 or $4,500 are provided by the dealer at time of purchase depending on the condition of the car being traded in.
