Since 2002 Camaro enthusiast have been waiting for the next generation Camaro to roll out of the GM assembly plant. Granted, a lot of us diehards hoped year after year that the redesign would get moved up and appear as if by magic, but alas eight model years later the first two cars of the next generation Camaro finally get delivered to a Chevrolet dealership. However, these new 2010 Chevrolet Camaros didn’t just go to any dealer— no that is where this story really begins.

According to our partners over at CamaroBlog.com, the #001 and #002 were delivered to Hendrick Chevrolet in Cary, North Carolina earlier this month. For those of you who don’t follow NASCAR, Hendrick Motorsports is a big contender in the sport with Mark Martin (#5), Jeff Gordon (#24), Jimmie Johnson (#48) and Dale Earnhardt Jr. (#88) all apart of their motorsports team. So, it is no surprise that they would wanted to have a new piece of Chevrolet history.

In case you missed it, the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro is offered in a 3.6-liter direct injected V-6 and a two tier SS packaged with two V-8 offerings. The SS1 package will be delivered with the 400 horsepower L99 6.2-liter V-8 with a six-speed automatic, variable valve timing and active fuel management. The SS2 package upgrades the drivetrain to the 426 horsepower LS3 6.2-liter V-8 coupled to a six-speed Tremec TR6060 manual transmission. TheCarConnection.com says that the “SS engines are rated at 16 mpg city and 24 or 25 mpg highway.” In addition, they have also rated it as an 8.4 out of 10 in their overall review.
