Giugiaro Teaser

Giugiaro Teaser

The name Fabrizio Giugiaro is synonymous with fast, stylish cars. The styling director at Italdesign knows how to make car fans drool.

In 2006 there was the Giugiaro Mustang Concept with 500 horsepower, a glass roof and doors hinged at the bottom of the A-pillar that tipped forward when opened.

At last year's Geneva Motor Show there was the Italdesign Quaranta. It was easily the most exciting application of Toyota's Hybrid Synergy Drive yet. Paired with a 3.3 liter V6, the Quaranta achieved 268 horsepower and 212 pound feet of torque good for 0 to 62 mph in four seconds. The roof was made of solar panels which provided the juice for the batteries and the interior accessories. Even the seating arrangement was unique, with the driver sitting front and center, two passengers slightly aft on each side, and a baby seat directly behind. Finally an environmentally responsible supercar your spouse will appreciate.

This year Italdesign is teasing us with this bold, however incomplete statement via their website: "The fastest hybrid in the world." The smidgen of a picture looks good, but we can't say more until we get the details. Stay tuned to coverage of the Geneva Motor Show to see what Fabrizio has up his sleeve this time.
