As not to be left behind in the “green” market, Hyundai has said that they will be introducing a new hybrid sedan that will reportedly sport a new physique. In addition, the new 2009 Hyundai Nuvis concept was unveiled at the 2009 New York Auto Show. Prior to the unveiling the Internet and show floor alike were swirling with rumors of gull-wing doors and seating for four. The real scoop? The “next-generation hybrid.”

The 2009 Hyundai Nuvis concept is powered by a parallel hybrid system (similar to a Toyota Prius or Honda Insight), which is mated to a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine. Power is put to the road through a six-speed automatic transmission. Probably the best part of the whole concept is the all-electric mode that will allow this crossover to cruise around town while emitting zero emissions.

So whether the gull-wing doors and “business class” seats make it to production has yet to be seen. However, it is clear that Hyundai is looking toward the future and trying to claim their spot in the driveway of the next generation of consumers.
