No sooner have we heard about a new dealership in Chicago, the scrappy California start-up electric carmaker Tesla Motors has now decided to venture farther north. The automaker has just announced they will begin selling cars in Canada as of today, with plans for first deliveries starting in the fourth quarter.

They produce the stunningly fast $109,000 electric sportscar called the Roadster, which AllCarsElectric.com has driven. The car does 0 to 60 in 3.9 seconds and has a 244 mile electric driving range. Tesla has already sold 200 of these in the US and Europe.

"As they have already for Americans and Europeans, we're certain Roadsters will quickly become the automobile of choice for Canadians who refuse to compromise between performance and the environment," said Tesla CEO, Chairman and Product Architect Elon Musk. "We have heard from many enthusiastic Canadians over the years and are quite eager to sell there."

The car will comply with Canada's highway safety regulations, and pricing will be set closer to launch.

Tesla will also be unveiling its all-electric four-door sedan, the Model S, on March 26, and expects to begin selling them in late 2011.
