One of the most vocal critics of electric-car maker Tesla appears to have been silenced. Known as Montana Skeptic, he wrote 138 articles over three years on the stock-tip website Seeking Alpha. On Tuesday, he published what he says will be his final article after he claims Elon Musk called his employer and threatened to sue Skeptic over his articles. It’s worth noting that Seeking Alpha allows authors to publish anonymously, under pseudonyms as Montana Skeptic had. Competition improves the breed. And that’s exactly what the Kia Niro brings to hybrids like the Toyota Prius and Prius Prime. Compared with the Prius, the Niro is taller and roomier. Likely to its benefit, it looks like a small crossover SUV, though with only front-wheel drive, it's no kind of SUV. It does offer the crossover advantages of easier access, better forward vision on the highway, and a more natural, upright seating position. That's especially true in back, where the taller seat makes for easier access and more space. Best of all, even with its tall, boxy shape, it gets...

It's one thing not to qualify for a product rebate, bonus, or credit. It's another to qualify, then have to pay it back. That's what Germany said Wednesday, alleging that 1,050 Tesla buyers weren't eligible for an incentive aimed at spurring electric car sales. The 1,050 people who bought or ordered a Tesla Model S and received the Federal Office for Economic Affairs and Export Control's "environmental bonus" (Umweltbonus) could be on the hook to repay the government 2,000 euros (about $2,200) according to Reuters.
