Just as we report on the Atomik electrified Fiat Abarth 500 the company reaches another mile marker in its heritage. The diminutive Fiat 500 has crossed the 500,000th unit threshold, a feat they achieved only 31 months after the vehicle’s launch. To celebrate Fiat is taking a different approach from the normal photo ceremony or signed special addition. It does involve photos, but maybe not in the traditional application that you might be used to seeing in the automotive industry.

For their celebration, Fiat will be producing a 500 that is covered in photographs. The photographs will display the faces of Fiat 500 customers, celebrities and fans. In fact, you can become a part of the celebration starting next week on May 3rd; interested Fiat 500 customers and fans can reserve their spot on the car by logging on to www.fiat500.com. The company has provided a special application showing a plan view of the Fiat 500 and you can search for an open space on that plan. Fiat says they will be reserving some 70 percent of the spaces for actual Fiat 500 owners.

We can’t wait to see the actual special edition once it is finished. Expectations are that the special edition vehicle will be completed three weeks after the reservations have been completed. Then the car will be displayed at international motor shows so fans and owners alike can see it. Dubbed the “Fiat 500 Thousandth” the vehicle should be quite interesting. The thing we don’t know is how they are going to achieve the photo covering. Stay tuned for more information, as we know it.
