Audi has announced pricing for the first two variants of its all-new 2015 A3 sedan, on sale soon.

With the base engine, a 1.8-liter, four-cylinder turbocharged unit badged TFSI, you'll pay $29,900--while the more powerful 2.0 TFSI, also a turbocharged gasoline model, begins at $32,900.

To each of those you can add Audi's standard $895 destination charge, bringing the cost of each model to $30,795 and $33,795 respectively.

Despite being the smallest model Audi offers in the U.S, specification levels are high. As standard, you'll find leather-faced seats, a thin retractable multimedia display, Audi drive select, 4G LTE connectivity and Bang & Olufsen audio, as well as a panorama glass sunroof and bi-xenon headlights.

For an extra $2,900 buyers can upgrade to the Premium Plus package, which offers 18" alloy wheels, an aluminum interior package, and keyless entry.

Boost the budget further--by $8,800--and the Prestige package becomes available. This includes everything you'll find in the Premium Plus package, but adds a sporty S-Line exterior kit, a Driver Assistance package, Bang & Olufsen Sound System, Audi MMI navigation plus, Audi Connect, the 'convenience' package and full LED headlights.

1.8 TFSI models are front wheel drive while 2.0 TFSIs feature standard quattro all-wheel drive. Each also utilizes Audi's s-tronic dual-clutch automatic transmission, with six speeds.

We'll have to wait a while before Audi reveals more details of its most efficient A3s though--the new TDI A3 sedan, and the A3 Sportback e-tron, a plug-in hybrid variant.

The former will arrive later in 2014 alongside a convertible and high-performance S3, while the e-tron will make its debut in early 2015.

With a brand new 2.0-liter turbocharged diesel engine, the TDI develops 10 more horsepower than before--up to 150 hp--and should offer a good few extra MPG over the existing 2.0 TDI units found in VW's current TDIs.

The e-tron will be even more efficient, provided you make best use of its 30 miles or so of electric range. You can read full details of the plug-in model in our A3 e-tron preview.
