Car enthusiasts will get a real treat over the next few weeks as both the Tokyo Motor Show and Los Angeles Auto Show release scores of new models into the wild.

We've already brought you our preview of the Japanese show so now it's time to unearth all the LA launches.

Here, tiny kei cars and fuel cell concepts make way for a host of production-ready models--cars we'll actually be driving from next year and beyond. There might be less innovation here, but these are the cars that'll help reduce America's thirst for fossil fuels.

Acura

Honda's Accord Hybrid is highly rated here at Green Car Reports--so much so that it won our Best Car To Buy 2014 award. But if you want to go one better, Acura's new RLX Sport Hybrid SH-AWD could be the car for you.

Using a drivetrain similar to that of the upcoming NSX hybrid sports car, the 3.5-liter V-6, three motor and seven-speed dual-clutch transmission combination is a potent one--up to 377 horsepower. Despite that shove, Acura is touting a 30 mpg combined figure. Not quite Accord Hybrid territory, but not at all bad for a car with nearly 400 horsepower...

BMW

Los Angeles will be the first chance for many to take a closer look at BMW's i3 electric city car. We've known the details for some time now, seen the styling and even driven the i3, but it's well worth inspecting in the flesh to appreciate the forward-looking styling and minimalist cabin design.

Honda

While U.S. arm Acura is showing off the hybrid RLX, Honda's own stand looks even further into the future with the Fuel Cell Concept.

The name isn't that catchy but the styling shouldn't disappoint--there's more than a hint of the NSX supercar in the teaser drawings, but also a few unique details--covered rear wheels, for example, and a low, glassy roofline. Honda suggests its styling could influence a future fuel cell production car, due in 2015.

Kia

As the dust settles from its EPA fuel economy debacle, Kia is getting back to the business of making fuel-efficient cars. First priority is the firm's first electric car to be sold in the U.S.--the Soul EV.

Kia hasn't confirmed its presence at the show, but it's fairly likely--details emerged back in October and Kia suggested further information would be revealed at a "major U.S. auto show". In the new Soul's funky body, it could be an electric car to look forward to.

Lincoln

Ford's luxury arm will show a luxury take on the Ford Escape crossover at Los Angeles, in the shape of the MKC. Like the Escape, a range of EcoBoost turbocharged, direct-injected four-cylinders will provide the power (including a brand new 2.3-liter model), while active grille shutters help improve aerodynamics.

Full fuel efficiency figures will appear closer to the car's launch next Summer, but you'll be able to check out the MKC's styling at the show.

MINI

We'll have to wait a little while longer for a plug-in hybrid or diesel from MINI, but we now know exactly what they'll be dropped into--this, the brand-new 2014 MINI Cooper.

Even the base range of engines pushes efficiency, with a 1.5-liter three-cylinder forming the basis of the Cooper model. With a turbocharger it develops over 130 horsepower and should improve comfortably on the current Cooper's 32 mpg combined. We'll have a proper look at the new MINI very shortly, so keep your eyes peeled.

Subaru

There's not too much for green car fans on Subaru's stand right now, but the Legacy Concept could provide a little hope. It isn't yet known what powertrain Subaru will put in the concept, but the company is turning towards hybrids these days so we're holding out hope.

You're sure to be able to check out Subaru's 2014 XV Crosstrek Hybrid at the show, too, after its debut at New York's auto show earlier this year.

Volkswagen

Two cars will interest green car fans on VW's stand. The first is the all-new e-Golf. As the name suggests, it's an all-electric take on the new seventh-generation Golf, and one VW has been planning for quite some time. Performance should match the Nissan Leaf, and range will too--around 70 to 90 miles.

The second offering from VW is a revised CrossBlue Coupe crossover. It majors on performance more than outright economy, but that's not to say it's inefficient--13 miles of electric range should ensure this plug-in hybrid tackles shorter trips as frugally as possible.
