Honda unveiled the Vezel crossover at the show, going on sale in its home market as soon as December 20.
It'll be a little while longer before the Vezel appears in the U.S, and it's unlikely to carry the Japanese-market name either--but the sub-CR-V crossover is sure to appeal to a wide range of people.
If you overlook the marketing-speak--Honda says it "fuses together multifaceted values," with SUV, minivan and coupe attributes--the Vezel should actually offer a wide range of attributes.
Interior layout takes inspiration from the ever-practical Fit, with a spacious cabin and high standards of comfort. The raised ground clearance should prove useful in inclement weather, though Honda hasn't yet revealed whether an all-wheel drive version will be available--the Vezel is front-wheel drive, for the time being.
And it does look suitably sporty--the front is every inch the modern Honda, while the rear lights have a touch of Acura to them.
Under the hood, the Vezel gets a 1.5-liter direct-injection four-cylinder lifted from the Japanese-market 2015 Honda Fit. More interesting is the hybrid model, using the same i-DCD one-motor system from the latest Fit Hybrid.
Unfortunately--and perhaps predictably--this model won't reach the U.S. It isn't yet clear what engines Honda will offer when the car hits North America.
