2009 Tesla Roadster Professional Cars.com ReviewSource: Cars.com...Battery life is projected to be five years or 100,000 miles. A key to fast charge times is having Tesla's $3,000 quick-charge unit installed in your garage. Using that system, a full charge can be obtained in 3½ hours. A standard 110-volt plug will recharge the car overnight. The Tesla's Lithium ion battery pack consists of 6,831 finger-sized laptop cells imported from Japan. Each cell is fused for safety. Radiator coolant keeps the batteries cool. It takes 12 computers to make everything work. One of the beauties of an electric motor is its simplicity. Whereas a four-cylinder internal... |

2009 Tesla Roadster Professional Cars.com ReviewSource: Cars.com...Judging from a day behind the wheel of the car, that speed is fast! There are people who praise the Tesla Roadster for its environmental attributes. It consumes no fossil fuels, spews no tailpipe emissions and leaves a relatively minor carbon footprint. But all of that is missing the point, because those are also attributes of the decidedly non-sexy, campus utilitarian, golf-cart-like cars assembled by Global Electric Motorcars, a Chrysler company. 2009 Tesla Roadster Professional Cars.com ReviewSource: Cars.com...The fully independent suspension is stiff and the short wheelbase gives the roadster a somewhat bumpy ride but it's on par with many performance cars. There are some tricks that a driver needs to get used to. For one, climbing into the Tesla requires careful balance to step over the frame into the driver's seat. My first attempt ended with me falling into the car. In the cockpit, the roadster was more austere than I had imagined. The aftermarket stereo -- selected because it fits perfectly in the dash -- provides Bluetooth connectivity and a navigation system. The bucket seats hold you... |

2009 Tesla Roadster Professional Cars.com ReviewSource: Cars.com...Only in the last few months have the first Roadsters trickled out to customers. The company's survival depends on securing additional millions in private capital and millions more in federal loan guarantees so it can build a new factory for its proposed S-series sedan, to be unveiled next month. We'll see. But what cannot be in doubt now is that the Tesla Roadster is, within very strict limits, a superb piece of machinery: stiff, well sorted, highly focused, dead-sexy and eerily quick. Zero-to-60 mph acceleration is less than 4 seconds, which is Ferrari quick. Around a tight, technical... |

Remember Michael DeGusta, the guy who indadvertedly ‘bricked’ his oh-so-expensive Tesla Roadster after storing it in an almost-empty state for nearly two months?... April 10, 2012 by Nikki Gordon-Bloomfield 9
You might think that electric vehicles aren't naturally suited to driving long distances just yet, but that hasn't stopped plenty of people giving it a go anyway. Here then... March 21, 2012 by Antony Ingram 6
