2012 hyundai veloster Professional Edmunds ReviewSource: Edmunds...The DCT also includes steering-wheel-mounted shift paddles. In Edmunds testing of a DCT-equipped model, the Veloster required 10.2 seconds to accelerate from a standstill to 60 mph. That's pretty slow by economy car standards, let alone for a sporty hatchback. Estimated fuel economy is quite good, though, with 28 mpg city/40 mpg highway and 32 mpg in combined driving for the manual transmission. The DCT is rated at 29/38/32 mpg. Safety: Standard safety features on the 2012 Hyundai Veloster include antilock disc brakes, traction and stability control, front-seat side airbags and full-length... |

2012 Hyundai Veloster Professional Cars.com ReviewSource: Cars.com...The interior is appealing with comfortable, well-bolstered seats, and an asymmetrical dash and lots of gadgets to play with. There's a nice feel to the front two seats, and the Veloster feels techno-friendly and spacious. There's a 7-inch, high-resolution touch screen at the top of the center stack that is bookended with long, narrow vents. The controls below the screen are easy to use. The Veloster also features Hyundai's Blue Link, the next step in telematics and infotainment. It's much more than Bluetooth connectivity and doesn't require a smartphone. There are three basic layers:... |

2012 Hyundai Veloster Professional Cars.com ReviewSource: Cars.com...Consider those two passenger-side doors. I offered three friends a ride. The first one jumped into the front passenger seat, as is her wont. The other two, not amused by the first passenger’s obvious sense of entitlement, ordered her to get out “so that we can at least push the front seat forward and get into the back.” To which the front passenger replied, without budging an inch: “You don’t have to do that. Use the rear door.” There followed a flurry of increasingly ill-tempered questions from the would-be rear passengers: “What back door?”... |

A navigation system with a backup camera is optional. The Veloster also marks Hyundai's entry into telematics with Blue Link, a cellular-enabled suite of features similar to GM's OnStar. 2012 Hyundai Veloster Professional Cars.com ReviewSource: Cars.com...I noticed none of the balkiness or vibration we experienced just a week ago with the 2012 Ford Focus SFE. The transmission shifts up through the gears smoothly and without drama, and it doesn't downshift too conspicuously as you slow to a stop. It also downshifts reasonably quickly when it's time to pass. Hyundai engineers erred on the side of comfort, opting for smoother shifts rather than quick, hard transitions — a wise decision. They say it shifts faster when in manual mode, but I found the difference to be minimal. There's no automatic sport mode, but there's an Active ECO button... |

2012 Hyundai Veloster OverviewSource: CarGurus...Its138-horsepower, 1.6-liter 4-cylinder front-wheel-drive engine comes with a 6-speed manual (standard) or a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, but still just doesn’t quite give you the juice you may want. (A Turbo version is rumored.) On the plus side, your right calf will get nice and toned. And look at that price tag. You do get a lot of bells for your whistles. A handy 7-inch touchscreen is included, keeping many options, like a backup camera and GPS, at your fingertips. Voice commands are supposed to interact with your music player via Gracenote (its Bluetooth connection is... |
