A 6,000 pound hybrid SUV is not the image that first comes to mind when you think about a fuel efficient vehicle, but the Cadillac Escalade Hybrid packs fuel efficiency into an oversized wrapper. Think about this, the Cadillac Escalade Hybrid gets better city gas mileage than a 2008 Mini Cooper S convertible.
GM's Escalade hybrid receives an epa rating of 20 mpg city and 21 mpg highway. Compared to the standard Escalade which recieves only 12 mpg city and 19 mpg highway. Those numbers show an improvement of 67% for city mpg for the Escalade Hybrid, but how does it drive?
The hybrid's repsonses are slow. It's 6.0 liter V8 churns out only 332 horsepower which is 71 horsepower shy of the 6.2 liter V8 in the standard Escalade. Further, the hybrid models tips the scales at 344 pounds heavier than the standard model even though the hybrid lacks awd.
