2.3L mazda3s sedan - great car!
Source: Edmunds

...You can't really find this kind of compact car elsewhere - its for people who want more than the low powered corollas and civics and don't want to pay mega bucks for the bmw/audis.
I find it great to drive, everything I expected and more.
I wanted something a little more powered and a little bigger than my old corolla, and this fits the bill exactly!
Found out that my tire pressure monitoring system works - 3wks old and a flat tire =( I get about 25-26mpg and its about 50/50% city/highway driving.
Insignificant minor flaws, super features. Brake dust is an issue, but thats...

Solid, Smooth and Economical
Source: Cars.com

..."Just bought a used corolla with 60K miles. So far it has really lived up to its reputation.
The drive is very smooth and quiet, except at higher highway speeds when it can get sort of loud.I have a manual, that shifts smoothly.
I have found that shifting early in the rpm range is easy and makes shifting smoother and more efficient.I am getting about 38mpg in mixed driving but I pay attention to gas mileage while driving,
so that is probably the higher end of MPG range.Overall, very happy with it."...

Very Reliable
Source: Cars.com

..."What I wanted was a reliable, worry free car and that is what I got.
I haven't had any issues with this car and it is incredibly fuel efficient.
I'll get between 35-41 mpg on the hwy and 30+/- in the city.
The interior is a little loud but its an excellent trade off to have a car that you never have to take to the shop. I'm very satisfied with this car and recommend it highly."...

...This car reminds me of the BMW2002 when it came out x years ago.
Modern, stylish, latest tech, ex. performance, reliability, economy.
90% of you have no clue what I mean. Anyway, the only other seriously considered was a VW Jetta, but it was 2.5K more; only 115 hp, made in Mexico and plain looks dated.
Corolla too dull; Honda same- same; Nissan not in the game at this price...

I'll never buy a VW ever again!
Source: Edmunds

...Bought it brand new in 96, problems started almost right away w/ the moonroof (luckily, it's still under the 2-yr bumper to bumper warranty).
In 5 yrs I owned the car & less than 40k mileage (not to mention that the car was serviced regularly),
3 out of 4 power windows were broken, continuous AC problems (mechanic couldn't figure it out),
poor gas mileage & the latest, had smoke coming out from the steering wheel (again, mechanic couldn't find out what's wrong). Trade it w/ Toyota Corolla & couldn't be happier. Stay away from VW!!...

Fun, stylish, affordable economy sedan
Source: Edmunds

...The Mazda 3s is an extraordinary economy sedan. It blows its competition away in terms of styling and performance.
The 2.3L 160hp engine is spunky and fun, the suspension is stiff and sporty and the styling is incredible.
It's my first 5-speed tranny, so I can't comment on the gearbox's performance relative to other vehicles - but so far, I'm having a great time zipping around town.
To those I've shown off the vehicle to, their first comment often implies I must have paid an arm and leg for the 3s. They are in total disbelief when I tell them I paid less than a Corolla S...

Average car

...Pros: Respectable gas millage. Cons: Found repairs and maintenance at the dealership very expensive in Canada.
Twice the check engine light came on. Once for P0133 for reprogramming at 100000 KM, Once for P0171 to replace intake manifold at 134000 KM.
Rear hub /wheel bearing assy with ABS replaced at 150000 KM.
Cheap inferior inside plastic some are falling apart. Current mileage 168000 Km. Overall: I hope it will last a few more years since I have spent a bit of money in the up keep of this vehicle...

Excellent design, could be better priced
Source: Cars.com

..."HAve 50k miles and never a problem. The car looks nice, drives nice, perfect for a student.
I would like to have had more rear leg room and a bit wider profile, I have big shoulders and I was up against the B pillar AND the passengers left arm. :-)"...
