2007 Mazda 3 GT breaks

...Again, I did not abuse this car and did regular maintanance on it. Shortly after that, the starter blew. And to top it all off, the 5spd trans blew 3000 miles after I replaced the engine. I would say that the suspension sort of loosened up and was sloppy after about 40k, even with scheduled maintainance. I might say I had a lemon, but I think it's just really poor quality, the reason why it only has a 36k mile warrantee. For the amount of money in repairs I spent, I could have bought a better vehicle. I just traded it in yesterday for a 2009 Subaru legacy, and what a difference, I was just...

Sporty Performance AND Good Fuel Economy

...The beauty of the SKYACTIV Mazda3 is that it achieves good gas mileage without making any sacrifices when it comes to agility.
I'd estimate my driving to be around 2:1 highway/city.
I get on the highway for about 35 minutes going to work, and 35 minutes coming back.
On my days off, my driving would mostly be considering "city driving"-- short bursts of movement between stoplights.
I average 36 to 38 miles to the gallon with those driving conditions, which I find pretty darn impressive.
If I was driving exclusively on the highway I have no doubts I could hit 40 mpg...

Best compact car for the money

...This number should only go up after the break in period. I'm pleased so far with everything about the vehicle. Looked at the Subaru Impreza, Ford Focus, Nissan Sentra and the Kia Soul (Kia dealers are trying to sell over sticker!! I walked right out!!) and I feel that the Mazda 3 beats them all especially with the new Skyactiv Technology. Cons: The standard stereo is not that great Overall: I owned a Mazda Tribute for 8 years and was completely satisfied with the vehicle except for the gas mileage. Never had any problems and still had the original battery! The truck handled like a sports car...

...After reading reviews people said to look at the mazda3. I drive around 30k just to work and I wanted a fun but good car to drive. After test driving all of them the mazda3 was the one for me. The Toyota was the best deal for the money but felt numb to drive. Honda was nice but lacked bluetooth and nice radio. I got a great deal on a 2011 mazda3 s sport with Bose/roof package. I love how it drives. I hope it will give me the 200k+ miles I am looking for. So far getting 30 mpg on highway. And me driving so many miles I wanted fun to drive...

I am one of very few who likes the "smiley" grill and the overall look of the exterior far exceeds that of any other mid-size in its class.
I have had no issues to speak of mechanically, it has great acceleration and the seats are very comfortable.
The only complaint I would have is the 26-28 mpg I have been getting (with a very soft pedal foot) as most cars in its class get 30+.
Overall, I do not have buyers remorse and would highly recommend this vehicle to anyone looking for a sporty, fun to drive sedan."...

It keeps going

...Pros: No major problems in 11 years of driving this car winter and summer....a Canadaian winter....the real kind.
I have 225000KM on it and I expect it will last about 350000KM.
I have all season radial tires. It just keeps on working!
Cons: Not much in the way of style. But I can't throw it away as it still works extrememly well.
Overall: Excellant car for very little money. All in (taxes etc and rustproofing) I took it off the lot for about $11000 Can.
