The recent photo contest on this site to find a picture from readers of the most unusual place they'd ever charged an electric vehicle.
But we had our own share of charging challenges as we traveled across the United States last summer in a caravan of all-electric vehicles, as depicted in the new movie Kick Gas.
So we put together a photo gallery of most fun, bizarre, and interesting places we charged while traveling across the U.S.
Every day was an adventure, but here are our top charging photos.
1) Every night we charged the bicycle and scooters in our rooms, wherever they were. Occasionally in the middle of the day we charged those batteries at a restaurant as well, but that was rare.
1.5) With no gas and no oil, my motorcycle was allowed to charge indoors at most hotels. Sometimes the room wasn't on the first floor, so a ride in the elevator was necessary!
2) The Nissan Leaf electric car charged outside hotels each night, so Duane Leffel always aimed for a room on the first floor to run the extension cord into.
3) Occasionally the Leaf would have to go off road a bit to charge up at night.
