MyFord Mobile, Ford's smartphone app for the Ford Focus Electric, will soon be available on the brand's plug-in hybrid models too.

The app allows customers to manage vehicle functions from their smartphone, such as viewing the state of charge, timing charging sessions, setting cabin temperature and more.

It's now also compatible with the Ford C-Max Energi and Fusion Energi plug-in hybrids, as well as the battery-electric Focus--and a collaboration with PlugShare will make charging easier too.

PlugShare aggregates the locations of public charging stations, and real-time station information can now be accessed through the MyFord Mobile app.

The facility provides information on an increasing number of stations in the U.S. and Canada, using crowd-sourced information such as photos, reviews and check-ins.

As well as charging information, MyFord Mobile users can find places of interest near to charging points, such as restaurants. This allows drivers to pick a plug closest to a place they want to visit.

In addtion to all the facilities enjoyed by Focus Electric drivers, their plug-in counterparts will be able to view information on how they're driving in both all-electric and hybrid-electric modes. The aim is to help drivers adjust their driving style for best economy.

The MyFord Mobile app is available on both Apple's App Store, and the Google Play Store for those with Android phones, and can be downloaded for free.
