The 2013 Lexus GS 450h is quite a step up from the previous model in several areas. It looks better, it's more efficiency, it's quicker and the interior is up there with the best in the class. It's a hybrid that even gearheads would consider owning, but in our experience from early drives, it's also capable of matching its official EPA figures.

Unlike the GS 450h, the RX struggles to match is official EPA figures, but it can still return better city figures than virtually any other SUV. That's not bad considering the 3.5-liter gasoline V-6 under the hood, and buyers have options of front- or four-wheel drive. Naturally, the front-drive model is a little more efficient. Disappointing real-world numbers or not, the RX is still a top luxury hybrid choice.
