As people on the other side of the globe ring in their New Year, we continue to roll towards our own celebrations here in the States. In just under seven hours the eastern seaboard will ring in the New Year, so we better get a move on for the second half of our count down to 2011—the best of 2010. For August 2010 the auto industry saw reports on the Lithium-Ion supplies delaying the VW Blue-E-Motion, our first drive of the new 2011 Scion tC, dealerships charging up to $20K over Volt MSRP and the 2011 Ford Fiesta winning an Institute for Highway Safety Top Safety Pick. It truly was an interesting month.

Choosing from the August 2010 articles wasn’t easy, but in the end we settle on our driven report from MINITAKESTHESTATES 2010. The article, DRIVEN: MINI E On An Autocross Course At MTTS2010, is our pick for the top article for August 2010. The article stuck out to us because it represents a national event that brought state-of-the-art technology to the fingertips of consumers. The MINI E is a fascinating vehicle, especially for being a retrofit to the original MINI design and not a ground up project like the Nissan LEAF. The best part though is that anyone could walk up and try one at this free MINI event. Even better was that you could really put your foot down since the event was styled as an Autocross event and blocked off from any interference of traffic. Be sure to check out the original article and the accompanying video.

Be sure to check out the rest of the count down to 2011 as we keep rolling towards New Year’s Eve! Missed the earlier articles check them out in our most recent blog section.
