2010 Toyota Prius: Testing the Brakes That Are Being Recalled

THIS ARTICLE HAS BEEN REMOVED AT THE REQUEST OF THE AUTHOR.

Toyota has recalled the 2010 Toyota Prius and 2010 Lexus HS 250h hybrids to update software that controls the anti-lock braking system.

The recall is a response to allegations that the 2010 Prius has problems with its brakes.

The problem first surfaced in Japan, where the 2010 Prius was first investigated for braking problems.

  1. It sounds to me like the recall fix would reduce the effectiveness of the braking system. "alters its sensitivity to tire slippage" I want my ABS working perfectly at all times. I have been saved from at least three accidents by ABS. I think ABS is the best thing to happen to our fleet safety since seat belts. I have never hit a child or anything else because my brakes would not stop me in time. Still, I do not trust Toyota at this particular time. They are in too big of a hurry. You don’t “fix” things till you solve the problem. You find all the real problem(s) then fix it(them). Being in a hurry will take longer and make you look worse in the end. I think I will wait till generation 3.99.

  3. You are not qualified to test cars for safety. The NTSB does that. If you do people could be injured or killed and you might be sued. Please don't try this at home!
