"Well, it's not loud -- but it certainly is fast." That's the statement from the owner of one of the World's Fastest street legal electric race cars. Known as the "White Zombie", it's a world record holder at the track. Despite it's green car status, it's able to whip old school carbon based fuel powered racecars -- making it's ecofriendly owner and designer laugh.

BMW drivers give up chasing him on the quarter mile, and even Corvettes get left peering into the clean air zero emmissions trail the little car leaves behind as it pulls out in front.

You just have to see this... it's a used car -- a 1972 DATSUN to be exact. Classic and hilarious, right? This hearty little car gives a clear green light to street legal cars that are race track friendly.

Although the electric eco-friendly wonder would have a tougher time beating a supercar, we still applaud it's shade tree mechanic builder for loving green tech AND racing.

If the car had been gas powered, mechanic sources and street racers say it never would be able to run faster than an 18 second quarter mile. Go green!

    I saw a short doc about him and his car on Modern Marvels (or some such). Between Zero Motorcycles,Tesla Motors and this vehicle, gearheads are finally taking notice.

    Considering the amount of money he hasn't spent on this car (versus how much a super car or highly modified street racer can cost) I'm sure nothing can come close to the dollars per kick-ass ratio he has.
