Electric Car video, by They Might Be Giants

Honestly, this post has very little to do with new cars for sale today. Instead, think of it another piece of green propaganda encouraging you to consider buying an emissions-free electric car when they start to enter the market in 2011 or thereabouts.

The experimental alt-rock band They Might Be Giants has been around for more than 25 years now, and after winning a couple of Grammies, they've lately gotten into the movie soundtrack business.

Their new Disney album, Here Comes Science, includes our new favorite song of the week, "Electric Car". You can watch the video below, which kinda reminds us of the current series of happy-nature-people TV ads for the 2010 Toyota Prius hybrid.

We happen to know TMBG's manager, who bcomes the esteemed automotive Jamie Kitman when he takes off his music hat, so we asked him for some background about the album and the track.

"They won a Grammy for Here Comes the 123s, their last kids' album/DVD, and the one before that (Here Comes the ABCs) went gold," Kitman told us proudly.

"But this one skews older. No self-respecting 7-year-old wants to listen to songs about the alphabet, which they know, alright, for chrissakes, already?!!"

He also asked us to point out that the album will be released next Tuesday, September 8, and that it can be pre-ordered on Amazon.

And there you have it. You, too, can "change the earth, relight the stars..." Ladies and gentlemen, may we present to you, "Electric Car," by They Might Be Giants.
