China is obviously committed to making the change from fossil fuels to electric power to move their vehicles. It seems that news of electric vehicle development is pouring out of China, with new partnership announcements coming one after the other every week. This deal is no exception, with Detroit Electric Holdings and Dongfeng Motor Company announcing their intent to build quiet, zero-emissions pure electric vehicles. Detroit Electric will license and perhaps supply the drive systems, Dongfeng the vehicles that use them.

"The more I learn, the more I believe the electric car is the future," said Albert Lam, Detroit Electric's Chairman and CEO.

Details of the deal are still sketchy, but it appears to be similar to that of one signed recently between Detroit Electric and Malaysian automaker Proton.
