Aptera 2e
The Aptera 2e, is a unique electric vehicle. It is a 3-wheeled 2 seat airplane-shaped vehicle that is a cross between a motorcycle and a commuter car. The first one has rolled off the production line, and they are expected to go into low volume series production in the fall of this year.
At the Technology Entertainment and Design (TED) conference the following specs were released. They reveal the car has a spectacularly low coefficient of drag of 0.15. Compare that to the current lowest production CD of the next gen Prius which will be 0.25. Furthermore we can see that the vehicle is a svelte 1500 pounds and due to these parameters, its small 10 - 13 kwn lithium ion battery pack gives it a 100 mile driving range. To keep that in perspective, the Tesla Roadster has a 52 kwh pack giving it about 250 miles of range, and the Chevy Volt has a 16 kwh pack giving it 40 miles of range, although the latter treats its pack very conservatively to allow 10 years/150,000 miles of operation.
The final cost of the Aptera 2e is not revelaed.
